My name is Bárbara, I’m a product designer from Brazil and since 2013 I run, together with two partners, the design studio “Cultivado em casa“. This year I launched my own product collection where I reinvent everyday objects based on a continuous search for ordinary materials.
I studied product design at FUMEC.
Usually, research starts with materials that sharpen creativity, when it is possible to see the properties and possibilities of construction and results that they can take you.
Paper, glue, and water, then scribbled with oil pastel for color effect and a textural finish.
Everything that is around and makes, at the moment we see, manage to expand our questions.
WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON LATELY?
I’m currently working on two pieces in which I use the same material from the collection of objects, through a Brazilian perspective as an identity statement.
WHERE TO SHOP?
All pieces can be purchased directly from me through my Instagram.
“Gesture Object” Collection
The collection is made of seven pieces in fourteen colors where the colors dictate the shapes of the objects. The collection is called “gesture object” because of the act of coloring each piece, where the strength and angle of the hand allow the paper mesh to be printed and result in this texture.
All products are made of wood with a layer of paper on the outside, so they have enough weight for each product to be used in the way it is proposed. The paper layer is the traditional technique that mixes paper, water, and glue.
An oil pastel pencil is used to color the mesh and all the pieces are sealed with matte varnish, keeping the original color of the pencil.
