Responsibilities:
- Building on our production workflows, Creature TDs, working under the direction of the CG Creature and Rig Supervisors, are responsible for adjusting the skin, muscles, clothing, and hair on our heroes -creatures.
- Primarily responsible for the development and design of tools and setups to meet the challenges associated with a variety of complex creature deformations. Our Creature TDs are a mix of technicians and creatives who can script pipeline tools to streamline our shooting processes.
- Work closely with supervisors to develop tools and workflows associated with creature simulations.
- Develop new techniques and processes to solve unique challenges and creature production techniques.
- Create creature, sim, and shot-based setups that maintain/contain character movement and deformation systems; secondary dynamic systems.
- Perform shooting tasks such as finalization, fabric setup, fabric simulations, hair setup, hair simulations, and various RBD setups and simulations.
- Collaborate with the Asset, Rigging and Animation teams to develop effective and efficient physics simulation assets and platforms.
- Work with production management to prioritize tasks.
- Set an example, foster a good working atmosphere and ethics.
Qualifications:
- Extensive knowledge of Maya, including Maya rigging, fabric and hairdressing techniques;
- Preferably 3+ years of production experience;
- Excellent understanding of facial and figure anatomy – bipedal and quadrupedal;
- High level of understanding of physics-based simulation techniques and their relationship to film;
- Complex character/vehicle rigging experience in Maya in a movie/show;
- Experience with finalization and PSD workflows;
- Ability to work with and organize complex physical assets;
- MEL, Python scripting experience, welcome to C++;
- Knowledge of Houdini, Ziva, Mudbox and/or Zbrush would be a plus;
- Experience in setting up production pipelines while being able to follow guidelines;
- Strong artistic aptitude with a discipline in hyperrealism as opposed to perceptual representationalism;
- Solid understanding of physics and mathematics;
- Ability to support oneself and take initiative.
