Job Description
The goal of a Technical Artist is to work closely with the Lead Technical Artist to provide tools, materials, shaders, and technical support to the environment and character art teams. Their work must be optimized for real-time applications with precision in detail and function. By working with, maintaining and developing internal pipelines, you can resolve technical issues independently.
Need to do:
- Excellent command of at least one development language, such as Python, HLSL or C++
- Expert level knowledge with Unreal Engine
- Working on a wide range of technology art projects, involving art tools, graphics engines and gaming hardware
- Expert-level knowledge of developing tools for environmental art creation and workflow
- Improving pipelines including Substance Designer, Substance Painter, and Houdini
- Managing real-time rendering, runtime analysis, optimization, shaders, and materials
Responsibilities:
- Operates Houdini Engine tools, Python scripts, and Unreal Blueprint tools
- Create materials, material layers, and shaders
- Create .sbsar tools for Substance Painter using Substance Designer
- Familiarity with procedural texturing workflows
- Maintain and develop the defined pipeline, based on prospect feedback
- Customized models, textures, and materials to create game-ready assets
- Complete assigned tasks on time
- Works alone on defined tasks but in collaboration with artists and leads
- Learns and adapts quickly to new workflows and methods
Qualifications:
- Graduate in digital arts or equivalent experience.
- 1+ years related gaming experience.
- Mastery of Maya, Blender, Houdini, Substance Designer and Substance Painter
- Proficiency in C++, Vex, HScript and Python
- Experience with Unreal or a comparable engine.
- Excellent technical skills in troubleshooting and problem solving
- Best time management and prioritization skills, working under tight deadlines
Additional:
- Have worked on titles delivered for PC, mobile and current-gen consoles
- Experience working on VR or AR projects
- Familiarity with real-time ray tracing approaches
- Familiarity with art-driven machine learning approaches, such as computer vision, style transfer, or convolutional neural networks
