TEDDY Sofa by OMHU rethinks the sofa bed by removing the usual compromise between sitting and sleeping, positioning it as a consistent element for everyday living. Developed by the Danish brand founded by Jonas and Frederik, the piece builds on years of working with vintage furniture, now applied to a sofa designed for daily use. The TEDDY Sofa moves away from the idea of a sofa bed as an occasional solution, instead presenting it as a stable and reliable presence within the home, where flexibility is integrated into the object rather than added as an extra function.
The design of the TEDDY Sofa is defined by a continuous upholstered volume, with softened edges and balanced proportions that avoid visual distinction between sofa and bed modes. Rather than unfolding into a secondary function, the piece maintains a clear identity whether closed or extended. This responds to contemporary interiors where flexibility is expected without changing the overall space, allowing the sofa to adapt without disrupting its surroundings. In a category often defined by temporary solutions, the TEDDY Sofa positions itself as a permanent piece rather than an occasional alternative.
This becomes clear in daily use. As a sofa, the TEDDY Sofa supports extended sitting, reading, and informal use without visible deformation or the need for readjustment. When converted, the surface remains even and continuous, allowing it to function as a bed without additional layers or separate components. What becomes noticeable over time is not the transformation itself, but the absence of adjustment, there is no need to rethink how the piece is used when shifting between functions. This consistency reinforces the idea that the transformation is embedded within the design rather than introduced as a feature.
Materials are chosen to support this continuity. The TEDDY Sofa sofa bed is upholstered in a custom fabric produced in Europe and certified according to OEKO-TEX standards, tested to 35,000 Martindale to withstand regular use. The textile maintains its structure over time, while its lightfastness ensures colour stability under daylight exposure. Internally, cold foam with a calibrated density provides a balanced surface that works equally well for sitting and sleeping. These material decisions are not presented as technical upgrades, but as necessary conditions for a product intended to be used daily without variation in performance.
Production follows a made-to-order model, with each TEDDY Sofa manufactured in European workshops only after purchase. This introduces a slower and more controlled process, where each stage, from foam cutting to upholstery and final assembly, is handled with direct oversight. By working closely with craftsmen, OMHU maintains consistency across each piece while reducing unnecessary production and excess inventory. This approach also allows for ongoing refinement, where feedback and adjustments can be integrated into future pieces without disrupting the overall system.
The TEDDY Sofa is available in a range of 21 colours and multiple configurations, allowing it to adapt to different interiors while maintaining a clear identity. Additional covers support a longer lifespan by enabling changes in appearance without replacing the structure. The TEDDY Sofa does not emphasise transformation as a feature, but removes it as a concern. Rather than adapting to short-term needs, it is designed to remain relevant over time, aligning material quality, function, and flexibility within a single piece.
