maTrigal: Days of Rain

maTrigal’s “Days of Rain” keeps changing its pace without losing its direction. Rhythmic shifts and improvisation move through organic textures, carrying the second single from Between Homes across contemporary chamber music, jazz-inspired expression, and folkloric influences. The music keeps advancing even as its materials change.

The intensity eventually drops into a calm middle section. What had been driven by rhythm opens into a quieter passage, giving the piece space to linger before its movement resumes. That change in pace gives the improvisation another function: it can push the music forward, then step back and let the sound settle.

The image of sunlight breaking through grey clouds fits the track without needing to be imposed on it. “Days of Rain” moves from density toward clarity through changes in tempo and texture, letting the weather remain a suggestion rather than a program. Between Homes begins to take shape through those movements, with maTrigal leaving the next change just ahead.
