RXRXBBIT’s “notmyproblem” makes denial part of the speaker’s defense, repeating the title while the lyrics keep placing her inside the damage she claims not to own. “Baby was it worth the pretty penny to pretend you’re not alone?” turns accusation toward someone else, but the chorus keeps returning to the speaker’s own body, desire, and participation: “Your throat / My lips my waist.” The phrase “not my problem” starts to sound less like an answer than something she needs to keep saying.
The language keeps moving between blame and admission. She sees someone “breaking someone else just to find a sense of peace,” recognizes that she is a participant, then immediately finds another way to step outside responsibility. The bridge removes even that small distance: “There’s no mistake you ordered signed sealed I delivered your decay” makes the exchange explicit, while “I’m never much to blame” arrives as another excuse. Calling her an “angel” only sharpens the joke, since the name itself hurts because she knows what it is hiding.
