DreamGood: Lifeline

DreamGood: Lifeline

DreamGood’s “Lifeline” builds its idea around a quiet belief in intuition, using electronic textures around the inward voice of a self-described soft-boy introvert. The song sits in that space between pop confession and stranger electronic detail, where the personal thought remains at the center without needing to become a grand statement.

As the second single from Paris Novella (Fortune Teller), “Lifeline” also introduces the album’s interest in prediction and self-reading. The title suggests something held onto when certainty is harder to find, while the fortune teller at the center of the larger project turns intuition into part of the world DreamGood are building. DreamGood have described their music through poetic pop-ballad writing, electronic textures and confessional inner worlds, and “Lifeline” brings those elements into the same room. The song asks for trust in the feeling that arrives before an explanation, then leaves it there.

For those who might not know you yet, how would you introduce yourself?

DreamGood is a cinematic art-pop trio. Our music blends poetic lyricism inspired by pop ballads, electronic textures, theatrical storytelling and immersive production.

If you had to bottle up your sound into just three words, which ones would you choose?

Electronic weirdo pop.

Which artists (not only music-related) or moments have left the biggest mark on your music?

I think this varies for each member of the band. For Josh, it’s storytellers like Alejandro Jodorowsky, Paul Thomas Anderson and Jim Jarmusch. For Mitch, it’s composers like John Williams, Hans Zimmer, Jonny Greenwood and Jon Brion. Glenn loves guitarists like Robert Johnson, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Eric Clapton.

When you hit play on your songs, what kind of feeling takes over?

For every song, this ‘feeling’ is different. There is no singular feeling in our music. Expect a spectrum of feelings.

If you could team up with anyone in the world, no limits, who would be that dream collaborator?

Lou Reed and David Bowie… It might take a few seances or a lot of psychedelics.

What are you working on now, and what are your plans for the future? Anything exciting you can tell us about?

We have just completed a concept album called Paris Novella (Fortune Teller): All Predictions Act Like Curses, releasing October 8. It explores new territory sonically, lyrically and conceptually by entering the esoteric world of fortune-telling. Exploring a kaleidoscope of emotions and ideas, Paris Novella invites listeners to think, dance and flex in the mirror with Paris Novella. As for future plans, we will hopefully make something new and interesting soon 🙂

Can you walk us through the story or emotion behind “Lifeline”?

“Lifeline” is a song written from the perspective of Paris Novella, a fortune teller, in the moment they begin to believe in their gift, even if that gift sits outside what is conventionally considered “normal,” “accepted,” or even real. It’s a song that explores the threshold between intuition, imagination, desire and self-belief.
