The Elusives’ “Run Away Into The Night” introduces a band that has spent years working together before stepping into the spotlight with its debut single. Founded by Paul Gilligan and Joe Brady, then joined by Laura Hand in 2025, the Irish project brings guitars, synths, drums and layered vocals into a sound that resists a fixed genre.
The title suggests escape, but the band’s own arrival comes with a different kind of movement. After sold-out shows at Dublin venues, The Elusives are moving from an underground presence toward a wider audience. Laura Hand’s lead vocals add another voice to the partnership between Gilligan and Brady, now taking its first official release into the world.
“Run Away Into The Night” marks the beginning of that next step, ahead of the band’s debut album. The Elusives have kept their world partly hidden until now. This single offers the first glimpse, with more still to come.
For those who may not know you yet, how would you introduce yourself?
Well firstly I’d have to say hello!, I’m Laura Hand, a Dublin-based vocalist and the most recent member of The Elusives! I sing both Co- Lead and backing vocals on the new material for the upcoming Debut Album….
If you had to bottle up your sound into just three words which ones would you use?
Hmm, three word sum up questions are always hard but I’ll go with the first three that come to me today – these could very easily be different tomorrow! ‘Melodic Rock Ethereal’
Which Artists (not only music-related) or moments have left the biggest mark on your music?
I’m an 80s baby, we pretty much all are in this band, we’ve grown up with some of the greatest Artists of all time- For me Fleetwood Mac, Stevie in particular has it all. Distinction vocally, emotive songwriting skills and a mystical presence yet to be matched. The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, The Beach Boys, Linda Ronstandt, Travelling Wilburys, ELO also feature heavily in the Soundtrack of my life
When you hit play on your songs what kind of feeling takes over?
Nice question – I suppose it depends which song you are listening to – For example, Run Away into the Night, brings a feeling of weightless freedom, and excitement paired with nostalgia – Everyone has wanted to run away at some point right? Whereas, our next single Dangerous Games stirs different emotions – heartache and emotional validation.
If you could team up with anyone in the world, no limits, who would be that dream collaborator?
Well Ive mentioned her already, If I could share a studio or stage with anyone it would be the magical Queen of Rock n Roll herself.
What are you working on now and what are your plans for the future? Anything exciting to tell us about?
YESSS!!!! Its all about to happen. We’re currently in studio putting finishing touches to our next single -Dangerous Games, a brand new song which has been gone through a metamorphosis since the idea first came about – Lyrically, musically and even the title! A real work of art! And we are very excited to also bring you our debut Album in 2027
Can you walk us through the story or emotion behind Run Away Into the Night?
Theres a definite feeling of escapism, ‘leave it all behind us’ – A powerful feeling of sudden freedom, not wanting to be found but also excitement about being with the one who can sit with you in that space.
