Slight Light: Ordinary

Slight Light: Ordinary

Slight Light’s “Ordinary” looks at the years spent chasing an artistic ambition and the life that keeps moving in the meantime. They sit in a basement, drawing up a master plan, while crumpled pages pile up in the waste bin. One insists that music is not a day job and refuses to become an ordinary man. The song sees the cost of that refusal in the time spent waiting for a sign.

The search for something greater continues through melodies that offer glimpses of God, but those moments never last. The perfect line remains out of reach, and the world seems full of places where meaning might be waiting. Yet the song begins to question the need to find it somewhere else. Maybe the problem is not a lack of ambition, but the belief that a life must become extraordinary to have value.

“Someday I hope” gives the final lines the sound of advice offered to someone who has spent too long looking beyond their own life. There is no demand to abandon music or stop trying to make something beautiful. The search can continue without turning every song into a test of worth. An ordinary town may be enough, and the moments that matter may already be there.
