Nate Shirley Designs Clean As An Industrial Design Exercise

Clean was born as an industrial design exercise to learn and apply new design methods (SubD) and programs (rhino/blender) and showcase the ability to take something even as mundane as a q-tip for ear cleaning and turn it into a desirable and useful product.

The concept of an electric, rotating, Q-tip is not new, but Clean packages it in a way that takes the user on a crisp visual journey with its slight twist, allowing them to intuit its purpose and interactions. It’s designed to look like something you’d have no qualms about putting in your ear. The head is softly sculpted in pliable silicone to gently pull buildup from your ear canal and is interchangeable and cleanable to avoid the waste of current disposable solutions.
