Tino Seubert creates timeless objects rooted in 90s architectural nostalgia
Ferric Glass is a remarkable collection by London-based designer Tino Seubert that reimagines industrial aesthetics through the refined lens of high-iron glass and stainless steel. Rooted in the visual language of 1990s glass architecture, the collection channels the era’s structural transparency and bold material contrasts into domestic-scale objects.
The use of high-iron toughened glass not only provides strength but also infuses each piece with a distinctive green tint—a subtle nod to the material’s elemental core. This iron-rich quality, paired with stainless steel spider hinges, creates visual tension and structural harmony, connecting flat glass panels into intricate three-dimensional forms.
Comprising a fruit bowl, a table lamp, a floor lamp, and a media cabinet, Ferric Glass is a celebration of both materiality and form. Each piece functions as a sculptural statement, where the interplay between light, color, and reflection invites a tactile and visual experience.
A highly anticipated armchair will expand the collection at this year’s Salone del Mobile in Milan, further showcasing Tino Seubert’s commitment to evolving the narrative around industrial design. The green hue of the glass not only serves an aesthetic purpose but reinforces the conceptual theme of iron’s omnipresence—both in structure and spirit.
Seubert’s design language has long revolved around contrasts, a trait first seen in his 2018 collection of wicker and aluminium stools and benches shown at the Hepworth Gallery. These early works sparked a signature philosophy that continues to define his practice: the juxtaposition of traditional, organic materials with precise industrial components.
Born in Forchheim, Germany, in 1986, Tino Seubert approaches each project with a craftsman’s intensity. Whether it’s through hand-anodising aluminium or refining metal and stone elements, he remains intimately involved in every production phase. This hands-on process imbues his work with a sense of intentionality and control, bridging artistic intuition with manufacturing precision.
