“Tax Man”, from The Damn Devils, channels a dark, theatrical energy that fuses Southern gothic grit with post-hardcore edge. It’s a meditation on greed, deception, and spiritual rot, dressed in fiery imagery and devilish metaphors. Lines like “Cast me now into your wishing well / Money sinking down into your sleeve” feel like sermons from the underworld, with a suspicious, defiant, and strangely cathartic message.
