“Catalina” by Mataliebre blends the raw energy of Mexican beats with the smooth textures of downtempo and the hypnotic pulse of house music. Drawing inspiration from his upbringing between the deserts of Sinaloa, México, and the vibrant streets of Los Ángeles, Mataliebre brings a sound rooted in tradition and forward-looking too. Built with vintage pianos, a thick nasal synth, and Latin reggaeton drums, “Catalina” captures a unique cross-cultural balance of nostalgia and innovation.
