Brooklyn’s pulse runs straight through “The Answer”, a track where nostalgia and ambition meet under neon reflections. Julemo channels the smoky intimacy of early-2010s R&B: that era of velvet synths, confessional hooks, and late-night self-reckonings, and threads it through a modern, meticulously polished production crafted alongside Dinero $ign and Brendan Keenan. The result is a track that feels both familiar and forward-leaning: a memory you swear you lived, wrapped in the shimmer of something entirely new.
As Julemo steps toward his debut album arriving in early 2026, this single sets the tone: reflective, atmospheric, and unmistakably rooted in the city that shaped him. A new voice with an old soul, searching for the answer but unafraid to wander through the shadows to find it.
Julemo told us: This track, ‘The Answer”, is very special to me and revolves around the emotion of uncertainty when a relationship ends without closure. The songwriting and vocal delivery are personal and vulnerable and speak to a universal situation, but it also has a very unique sonic quality. The sound is deeply inspired by 2010s R&B and hip-hop but still has a dancey, modern pop quality that will get people moving.
For those who might not know you yet, how would you introduce yourself?
My name is Julemo, and I would describe myself as a pop auteur, songwriter, performer and visual artist. I craft soulful, danceable pop music with rich, personal storytelling that lives at the centre of the genre. I am also a visual and 3D artist, and the visual, aesthetic world my songs live in is almost as important as the songs themselves.
If you had to bottle up your sound into just three words, which ones would you choose?
My sound is soulful, dance, and sexy.
Which artists (not only music-related) or moments have left the biggest mark on your music?
That’s really hard. I grew up and still listen to powerful, soulful pop divas who are performers and able to switch genres and tell their stories, like Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Beyoncé, and also more contemporary pop auteurs like Charli XCX and Rosalia.
I remember also first listening to Radiohead in middle school and thinking I would love to make music one day; they inspired me to make music. I also remember always gravitating towards strong, soulful vocalists like Mariah Carey and even the Muses from the Disney movie Hercules (if you know you know).
When you hit play on your songs, what kind of feeling takes over?
When you hit play on my songs, the prominent feeling that takes over is sensuality, tenderness, and freedom.
If you could team up with anyone in the world—no limits—who would be that dream collaborator?
There are so many artists I would love to work with. One that stands out is KAYTRANADA, I think we would make really cool music together. I would also love to collab with Doja Cat, Frank Ocean and Rosalia one day, and even some of my pop icons — Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, Rihanna, to name a few. I also really love the bands Alvvays, The Marias, and, of course, Radiohead, and I have songs in mind I’d love to make with them.
And finally, what are you working on now, and what are your plans for the future? Anything exciting you can tell us about?
Can you walk us through the story or emotion behind this track? Talk to us about the selected track.
Definitely! Right now, I am ramping up to release a new single, “Goodbye LA” in January and my debut album later in 2026. The album will be a full, visual immersive experience, and I’m so excited for people to experience it.
