Atelier Craft reimagines New Balance space at Citadium Paris

In the heart of Paris, New Balance presents a renewed vision of craftsmanship and industrial design through a dedicated corner at Citadium Caumartin.

Realized by Atelier Craft, the installation channels the spirit of early American sports clubs—spaces where energy, rivalry, and camaraderie intersect—translating that ethos into a tactile environment that speaks both to heritage and forward motion.

The project becomes a dialogue between memory and invention, where every object tells a story of transformation rather than replacement.

Drawer compartments from antique wardrobe repurposed as accessory displays

Through a process rooted in restoration and reinterpretation, Atelier Craft revives French furniture from the early 1900s, turning each piece into a vessel of contemporary utility.

A wardrobe finds new purpose as a shoe display, while its drawers evolve into organized showcases for accessories. A vintage counter becomes the site of transaction, bridging history and present-day retail.

The approach is neither nostalgic nor purely functional—it operates in the liminal space where material legacy becomes a foundation for innovation.

This collection of reimagined artifacts forms the visual and structural identity of the New Balance space. It reflects the brand’s 120-year pursuit of progress, anchored in authenticity and the constant refinement of design.

Each intervention by Atelier Craft remains reversible, preserving the integrity of the original object while proposing a new chapter of use. This methodology underlines an awareness of material cycles and the value of adaptive reuse in contemporary design practice.

Within the studio’s workshop in Aubervilliers—formerly an automotive garage—concept and fabrication coexist under one roof. This proximity allows a seamless transition from idea to object, fostering an ecosystem where designers and makers collaborate as equal voices.

The studio’s philosophy rejects separation between thought and action, emphasizing the collective process as essential to sustainable creativity. Every project becomes a research field for new gestures, renewed materials, and shared narratives.

The Citadium installation stands as an expression of New Balance’s evolving identity: a company that honors its historical craftsmanship while embracing material experimentation and ecological consciousness.

Atelier Craft’s intervention embodies a quiet form of progress—where the past is not erased but refined, and where design becomes an act of continuity.

The space speaks through textures, patinas, and subtle interventions that invite visitors into a conversation between eras, rooted in the elegance of purpose and the beauty of reinvention.
