The studio’s debut project, The Electric State: Kid Cosmo, serves as a prequel to Netflix’s recently released film The Electric State, directed by the Russo Brothers and produced by AGBO. This mobile adventure puzzler blends engaging gameplay with emotional storytelling, offering Netflix members an exclusive experience on iOS and Android. The team behind BUCK Games approached this project with an ambitious and unconventional vision, adapting their creative techniques to the interactive medium.
This release follows BUCK Games’ previous collaboration with creative audio studio Antfood on Let’s! Revolution!, a critically acclaimed game that introduced players to a whimsical roguelite world inspired by Minesweeper. Available on PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch, the game integrated turn-based tactics, hand-drawn animation, and a dynamic soundtrack, securing an impressive 38 Metacritic score. It also received nominations at the Annie Awards 2024 for Best Character Animation, the Thinky Awards 2024 for Strategy Game of the Year, and SXSW Sydney 2023’s Game of the Year, among other accolades.
