In the leafy neighborhood of Martínez, San Isidro, nestled within the verdant embrace of Buenos Aires, Argentina, Grizzo Studio has embarked on a remarkable architectural endeavor known as Casa Bosque. This residential project, commissioned by a private client, epitomizes the studio’s commitment to harmonizing built structures with their natural surroundings.

Conceived in 2021 and slated for completion in 2024, Casa Bosque is more than just a dwelling; it’s a seamless extension of the lush garden it inhabits. With a built area of 380 square meters set upon a 364 square meter site, the project elegantly weaves together the indoor and outdoor realms, blurring the boundaries between them.

Grizzo Studio’s design ethos for Casa Bosque revolves around embracing the existing flora while creating a living space that immerses its occupants in the ambiance of a forest. Organic shapes, textures reminiscent of tree bark, and earthy tones permeate the architectural elements, ensuring that every step within the residence is akin to a stroll through nature’s sanctuary.

Central to the design are fluid, organic structures that support the house, mimicking the sinuous forms found in the surrounding vegetation. These structures, crafted from pigmented exposed concrete with brushed board formwork, evoke the texture and nobility of tree bark while minimizing the need for future maintenance—a testament to both aesthetic and practical considerations.

Contrasting with these organic forms are smooth gray concrete trays, strategically embedded at varying levels to provide spatial organization and support. These trays, resembling floating slabs, serve as platforms for native vegetation, seamlessly integrating greenery into every corner of the dwelling.

Throughout Casa Bosque, the interplay of light, shadow, and foliage transforms the living spaces, creating dynamic environments that evolve with the passage of time. From the towering 4.50-meter-high living room, flooded with natural light, to the intimate corners framed by curved partitions, every aspect of the residence offers a unique connection to the surrounding landscape.
