Changes By Geert Van Hooff

Art / Production

Pause fest 2021 // a Motion Response original. For this year’s theme ‘change’, Geert van Hooff created a visual exploration of existence, transformation, decay, and rebirth.

“Change the way you look at things and the things you look at change.” (Wayne Dyer) Unforeseen and abrupt changes can be very difficult for our outlook on life and can set us back for quite a while. But as change is inevitable and the only constant that exists in life, we have to change ourselves; we have to learn, adapt and alter our consciousness in order to progress. In this way, we can regard our setbacks as building blocks for new beginnings.

A dark beetle with large curved mandibles crawls across a rough wood surface in a close view.
A glossy purple leaf-like form fills the frame with deep raised curved veins.
Irregular dark plates peel away from a rough reddish surface in a close abstract view.
Dense rounded dark-purple cloud-like forms billow together against a softly lit purple background.
Ribbed reddish blocks and dark metal-like beams intersect diagonally in a geometric digital scene.
Thin pale wood-like strips overlap at sharp angles under warm light in a close view.
Warm light reveals the rough peaks and deep crevices of a brown rocky surface.
