David Hasert: Park Cafè

David Hasert’s “Park Café” takes its name from a historic café in Cologne that the producer recently took over. After years running the nightclub Reineke Fuchs, Hasert is moving into a different kind of place, one built around flowers, music and long afternoons. The track carries that change into his electronic work, leaving the night behind as its only point of reference.

Hasert describes the music as a meeting of the club’s pulse and the café’s warmer atmosphere. That idea gives the release a personal context beyond its place in his catalogue. The shift from running a nightclub to taking care of a daytime venue also changes the setting behind the music, from late hours and dancefloors to a space where people can spend an afternoon.

“Park Café” marks Hasert’s debut on EELF Records, adding another label to a catalogue that includes Kompakt, Anjunadeep, Get Physical, Nervous Records and Stil vor Talent. The café itself gives this release its clearest point of reference: a new place in Cologne, and a new chapter after years in the city’s nightlife scene.
