Diver Through: It’s The Sky

Diver Through: It’s The Sky

Diver Through’s “It’s The Sky” takes a phrase about a changing climate and gives it room to suggest something larger. The idea began with an article about clear-air turbulence increasing as the climate changes, and the unsettling answer to the question of whether things are getting worse: it’s not you, it’s the sky. That shift in perspective gives the song its starting point, where a familiar world can change around us before we know how to make sense of it.

The sky becomes a way to think about changes that reach beyond individual control. Something feels different, and the phrase carries a touch of humor, though the reality behind it is frightening. What starts as an observation about the atmosphere opens onto a broader question about how we recognize change when it has already begun.

The song also became the piece that brought the project together, giving its other songs a shared direction. Written for a three-piece lineup after the songwriter set aside a year’s worth of earlier material, it helped establish a new starting point for the band. The sky keeps changing whether we notice it or not. Sometimes the first step is accepting that the change is real.
