Edward Grant turns his signature synthwave spacewave sound toward the dance floor in “Supernova,” replacing the darker weight associated with his film work with a lighter synthpop pulse. It´s the first single from Parallax, it has a sound built around space and electronic texture and gives it a more immediate shape, with the synths carrying the piece forward rather than building toward a cinematic scene.
Grant describes Parallax as heavy and dark, making “Supernova” a deliberate departure within the album rather than a statement of its whole mood. His description keeps the piece connected to the music he already makes. Spacewave remains the starting point, but the destination is a dance track.

The composer associated here with dark melodies and nightmare textures steps away from those materials without abandoning the electronic vocabulary behind them—inverting the dark, moody synthpop framework that anchors the delicate intimacy of KARIXX: Drunk. For one track, the darkness stays offscreen.
