Florntenes´ “The News” distils the duality of the philosophy of their songwriting and the thrill of distortion into a striking statement of purpose. The song unfolds as a kind of internal broadcast, building slowly, its dark, menacing riffs giving way to moments of melodic clarity before spiralling into an explosive climax. When Smith sings about letting go of the need to compete, it’s not resignation; it’s renewal. The chaos becomes catharsis.
