Cj Hendry’s Flower Market: A Blossoming Collaboration at FDR Four Freedoms State Park

Cj Hendry’s Flower Market Exhibition

Contemporary artist Cj Hendry is renowned for her ability to transform ordinary objects into extraordinary experiences, and her latest exhibition, Flower Market, is no exception. In collaboration with global luxury beauty brand Clé de Peau Beauté and the Four Freedoms Park Conservancy, this immersive floral experience offers visitors a chance to engage with art in an entirely unique way. Set against the scenic backdrop of Roosevelt Island’s FDR Four Freedoms State Park, this exhibition is sure to attract art lovers and floral enthusiasts alike.

A Garden of Plush Flowers Inspired by Nature

At the heart of Flower Market lies a striking 120-foot by 40-foot greenhouse filled with over 100,000 plush flowers. Each flower has been meticulously crafted to reflect the lush botanicals that inspire Clé de Peau Beauté’s iconic skincare products. Cj Hendry has long admired the exquisite craftsmanship of the brand, especially its Radiant Lily, a key ingredient in Clé de Peau Beauté’s celebrated The Serum. The same meticulous attention to detail in their products is mirrored in Hendry’s art, where each plush flower represents her deep appreciation for natural beauty.

Among the featured flowers is a collection inspired by the Roosevelt family, paying homage to the rich history and legacy of the park. Visitors will encounter vibrant yellow Eleanor Roosevelt Roses, Tulips symbolizing the family’s Dutch heritage, and fields of red Roses representing the Roosevelt name. Signature Peonies of the Roosevelt farm also make an appearance, creating a captivating display of color and history.

An Immersive Artistic Journey

This exhibition is not just about viewing art—it’s about stepping into it. Hendry’s work invites visitors to explore, touch, and take home a part of the installation. The plush flowers, reminiscent of the luxurious textures found in Clé de Peau Beauté products, create an environment where guests can connect with nature through art. As Hendry herself puts it, “A lot of my work is about manipulating my environments and building a space that takes participants out of their ordinary.”

Those unable to visit in person can still experience the magic through a virtual flower market, where they can personalize their own plush white Lily, inspired by the Radiant Lily in Clé de Peau Beauté’s collection.

A Harmonious Collaboration Between Art and Beauty

Cj Hendry’s collaboration with Clé de Peau Beauté is a perfect marriage of art, beauty, and nature. Alessio Rossi, Executive Vice President of Clé de Peau Beauté US Marketing, highlights the synergy between the two: “This partnership embodies the essence of our brand, known for its intelligence, uncompromising standards, and exquisite quality. Cj Hendry’s remarkable ability to engage audiences through her masterful craftsmanship and thought-provoking social commentary on luxury perfectly resonates with our values.”

CEO of the Four Freedoms Park Conservancy, Howard Axel, shares in the excitement, adding, “We were immediately excited to work with such an exceptional contemporary artist as Cj Hendry. She captures the vision of Louis Kahn and his design ‘to be a place of inspired use’ as she encourages visitors to see the park through her eyes!”
