Foster + Partners has unveiled the designs for TEMPO, a groundbreaking hotel and residential development set in the scenic region of Santa Catarina, Brazil. Positioned to take full advantage of the breathtaking views of Praia Brava, a sought-after beach known for its allure to surfers, and the surrounding mountainous terrain, the project is poised to redefine luxury and connection to nature. Spearheaded by MUZE, a real estate group dedicated to creating spaces that transcend ordinary living, TEMPO represents a harmonious blend of architectural ingenuity and environmental reverence.
The design, led by David Summerfield, Head of Studio at Foster + Partners, integrates the essence of the vibrant coastal environment into every aspect of the development. The project aims to guide residents and guests on an immersive journey from the pristine beachfront to their exclusive whole-floor residences or private suites, seamlessly blending natural elements with high-end living.
Central to TEMPO is a lush landscaped garden, conceived as a natural extension of the beach. This serene space includes trails, pavilions, water features, and pools, offering a private retreat that enhances relaxation and well-being. The garden connects all elements of the development, providing a cohesive sense of unity and a sanctuary of green in the heart of the site. Shaded drop-off areas on either side of the property echo this design ethos, integrating the verdant surroundings into the arrival experience.
The luxury hotel at TEMPO is designed to offer an unparalleled level of elegance and comfort. Guests are greeted with direct views of the garden upon arrival, a striking lobby, and an inviting restaurant that extends into a sunken outdoor seating area, blurring the boundaries between indoors and outdoors. Each suite boasts a private terrace oriented to capture oceanfront vistas, with sliding timber screens that provide shade and privacy. A rooftop infinity pool crowns the hotel, offering a panoramic view of the coastline and mountains, completing the experience of tranquil luxury.
The residential aspect of TEMPO complements the hotel with single whole-floor residences, each featuring private gardens and the same commitment to exceptional craftsmanship and natural connection. The material palette, emphasizing concrete and timber, reflects the warmth and textures of the environment while maintaining a refined, timeless aesthetic.
