Halo Boy: HEX.

“HEX” is a love song that knows possession and desire are the same word. Halo Boy builds a world where the body becomes the site of the relationship — teeth, blood, skin, chest — and what happens there is simultaneously damage and devotion. The witchcraft imagery isn’t metaphor reaching for originality; it’s the most accurate available language for what it feels like to want something that undoes you.

The tension is in the chorus, which shouldn’t work but does. Admitting you like the hex, not despite the falling apart but because of it, is the kind of confession that collapses the distance between victim and willing participant. The body throughout the lyric is passive, acted upon, reanimated, stitched back together with someone else’s thread. But the voice claiming it is not passive at all. That gap between what’s happening to the narrator and how the narrator feels about it is where the song earns its weight.
