“Rising” has an urgent and emotionally charged tone. Written in 2010, the composition pays tribute to the spirit and bravery of those who fueled the Arab Spring. It surges with dynamic energy, balancing moments of meditative reflection with bursts of momentum that mirror the movement’s volatility and hope.
Nightpath
“Nightpath” has a captivating blend of Middle Eastern modality and American jazz sensibility. Drawing direct inspiration from the work of jazz bassist and oudist Ahmed Abdul-Malik, the track centers on a traditional Persian daf rhythm, skillfully translated into the drum part. Guitarist Mustafa Dill shifts from guitar to oud, enriching the soundscape with the instrument’s earthy resonance.
