Job Description

We are searching for a talented real-time VFX artist to join our RPG department, which is developing a mobile MMORPG that combines battle-gathering mechanics and cutting-edge graphics in a dark fantasy setting.

The successful candidate will be part of a team of over 100 professionals in the RPG department.The project is done in Unity, but the team also uses a variety of tools for specific tasks: Maya for 3D and UV modeling, ZBrush and Blender for sculpting, Houdini for pyro, fluid and destruction simulations , Substance Designer for texture generation,Stuff Painter for baking and texturing, XCode, Amplify Shader Editor for prototyping shaders.

The successful candidate will be able to work in our office in Warsaw or remotely from Poland.

Skills and Requirements:

  • Create concepts and develop real-time visual effects for the game in Unity
  • Profiling and optimization of effects and game elements created by you or others
  • Creating 3D models and animations for complex character visual effects and game locations
  • Customize in-game character skill visual effects using internal tools

Requirements:

  • At least 2 years of professional experience in the video game industry
  • Knowledge of the principles of movement, anticipation, dynamics and other aspects of animation
  • Exclusive knowledge of the Unity editor skills in creating VFX for games
  • Knowledge creating or writing VFX shaders in node-based editors Knowledge of Houdini, Blender, Maya, or 3ds Max
  • Skills in 3D modeling and 3D animation
  • Knowledge creating and baking UV maps 
  • Knowledge creating textures for VFX
  • Hands-on experience with particle systems English language skills at pre-intermediate level or above

Responsibilities:

  • Design fun experiences for our players. How to think outside the box to offer something new?

With a technical approach to photorealistic effects, the artist will be responsible for creating the collections of maps required for the assembly of materials that will be attached to the 3D objects. These textures/materials will then be rendered using Arnold Renderer’.

The textures can be made from photos, scans, or painted by hand and any other means necessary to obtain the closest to the existing surfaces. The use of procedural software, as well as the use of PBR texture collections may be required in order to bring out the most realistic renderings possible.

  • Ability to create photorealistic textures

  • Ability to be led by other departments and apply required changes

Job Details

As a senior VFX artist on the team, you will be required to work daily alongside designers, other artists, programmers and producers, conceptualizing and creating a wide range of visual effects for our games that achieve the goals of production and quality set for the project. You will also work closely with the Senior Visual Effects Artist to define the style and quality standard of the games.

You will need to estimate timelines for your tasks in advance and provide milestones as part of the development process. You must be able to show creative leadership to the VFX team, inspiring them to work to their best and take pride in what they invent.

Role You Play:

  • Responsible for conceptualizing and creating a wide range of visual effects for the game, in line with the game design and vision.
  • Creation of high-quality game-specific and cinematic visual effects using an in-house editor and bundled packages (Maya and Photoshop).
  • Liaise with build artists and code regarding placement and triggering of gameplay specific visual effects.
  • Communicate any game design risks or concerns that impact the schedule.
  • Work with the VFX Manager and Art Director to ensure consistency between the vision and the implementation of effects.
