Lightship, the pioneering force behind America’s first all-electric recreational vehicles, has officially launched the AE.1™ Cosmos Edition, a groundbreaking innovation in the RV industry. Originally unveiled at SXSW in 2023 under the name Lightship L1, this world-first Aero-Electric travel trailer marks a significant leap forward in sustainable and luxurious travel. Designed and manufactured in Broomfield, Colorado, the AE.1 Cosmos Edition is a testament to cutting-edge engineering and eco-conscious design.
This limited-edition travel trailer, restricted to just 50 units, comes with a price tag of $250,000, or $239,900 after applicable tax credits. The AE.1 Cosmos Edition is tailored for the modern traveler, offering unparalleled aerodynamic efficiency and the TrekDrive™ power system, which ensures minimal range loss for electric vehicle users and improved fuel efficiency for traditional gas-powered vehicles. It redefines the standards of innovation and comfort, blending technological sophistication with environmental responsibility.
The AE.1 Cosmos Edition’s interior sets new benchmarks in sustainability, functionality, and spaciousness. Its all-electric design, powered by an integrated solar roof and a robust battery system, eliminates the need for generators or propane tanks, providing a quiet and hazard-free camping experience. The trailer accommodates up to four occupants, offering a refined automotive-grade HVAC system, a luxurious bathroom, and a galley kitchen equipped with high-end appliances, including a dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave, convection oven, and induction cooktop. These features are meticulously designed to support off-grid living while ensuring maximum comfort.
Ben Parker, Lightship’s Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer, emphasized the company’s commitment to revolutionizing the RV industry. According to Parker, the AE.1 Cosmos Edition represents a dream travel solution for sustainable travelers, tech enthusiasts, and EV advocates. He affirmed Lightship’s mission to usher RVs into the electric age and hinted at a broader range of trims to cater to diverse traveler needs.
The AE.1 Cosmos Edition will be available in two exclusive colorways, Timberline and DuskHorizon, with deliveries set to commence in the summer of 2025. Lightship plans to expand its AE.1 lineup with three additional trims—Atmos, Panos, and Terros—each offering unique features and price points. Early reservation holders will have the first opportunity to purchase the Cosmos Edition, followed by broader availability. Meanwhile, reservations remain open for the future trims, ensuring that Lightship’s vision of sustainable, electric-powered travel is accessible to a wider audience.
