LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize
The LOEWE FOUNDATION has officially launched the eighth edition of its prestigious Craft Prize, an international award that celebrates excellence in craftsmanship. The foundation aims to honor highly skilled artisans whose artistic vision and innovative spirit are pushing the boundaries of contemporary craft.
The winning artisan will receive a prize of 50,000 euros, with their work, along with those of the shortlisted finalists, featured in a major exhibition and accompanying catalogue in Madrid in Spring 2025.
Applications for the LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize are open from 9 July to 30 October 2024. Visitors will be able to explore the materials, techniques, and unique sounds associated with each piece, creating an engaging, immersive experience.
Participation Details
Professional artisans from around the globe, aged 18 years or older, are invited to participate. Submissions can be made by individuals or as part of a collective group. Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- The submitted work should demonstrate artistic intent alongside technical skill.
- The piece must be handmade or partly handmade, one-of-a-kind, and recently created (within the last five years).
- It must not have previously won any prizes.
- The work should reflect innovation, updating traditional craft techniques.
- Eligible disciplines include ceramics, bookbinding, enamelwork, jewellery, lacquer, metalwork, furniture, leather, textiles, glass, paper, wood, and more.
Participants must complete the online registration in English, providing 2 to 5 photographs of their work (or series) and optionally a video. A brief conceptual statement about the submitted piece is also required.
