The complexity of harmony, fragile balance between several tension points, the emergence of patterns in chaos, or the way we fall in love. True beauty is everywhere. Hard to reach, ephemeral and mysterious, or simply hidden from us, revealed in a blink or a few times last forever, it shapes our ability to feel, to observe, and to marvel about Nature and other beings.
But are we still able to do so? Modern life has weakened our eyes, blurred our attention, night skies have been obliterated by the city lights, noise covers silence increasingly. Everything is going so fast that it requires a lot of energy to freeze-frame and contemplate what the universe has to offer.
As a love letter to contemplation, Order & Chaos is an attempt to reveal the beauty we forgot or ignored, how fragile and precious its presence is, and why human is progressively losing it. « You’re the only one I’ve really known, but still you remain a mystery »
Narration will shape around a voice-over that will be used to help understand the story. It will read a love letter, from a man who recently lost his girlfriend, and tell how much he regrets it, and finally thanks her for having been the girl he fell in love with.
Every word he’ll say will be illustrated by a related shot, gradually changing the level of reading, turning the letter between two random people into a universal message from humanity to cosmos, finally telling how Humanity’s losing Nature, how its activity hurt it, and in a sparkle of consciousness, how he is thankful for what it gave to him.
The movie will be entirely built to help the viewer understand this non-intuitive transition between a very close scale and local scenario to a global and universal storyline, passing through concepts such as the chaos theory, the butterfly effect, fractals in order to describe the fragile beauty of the Nature’s secret language. « And by all your strength, you kept me suspended in the middle of now »
As a bond between concept and process, everything on the screen will be crafted for real, using inks, fluid dynamics, and chemical reactions. From the cyclone to a thunderbolt, everything will be entirely recorded in-camera, to leave as little human intervention as possible.
Exploring the chaos theory, fractals, and physic laws in the studio also revealed recurring patterns and the emergence of similarities in the type of beauty we are looking to show. The combination of Nature’s expression in the creation’s process and the graphical link between the shots will help to feel and understand the real purpose of the film. « And if I fade away, you may not even notice aren’t you? »
