McDead – Moon Scrolls

McDead: Moon Scrolls.

“Moon Scrolls” treats one of humanity’s most mythologized destinations with deliberate indifference. Set fifty years after the first lunar landing, the track imagines astronauts returning to the Moon only to discover that history has already happened. There is nothing left to conquer, nothing profound to feel. Just time to kill.

Built on down tempo hip hop rhythms and post punk restraint, the song reframes science fiction as routine. Low gravity, low emotion, minimal stakes. The mission unfolds like waiting for a bus that may or may not arrive, punctuated by the quiet compulsion to scroll. Not out of boredom exactly, but out of habit.

That deadpan tone is the point. “Moon Scrolls” finds its tension in anticlimax, in the contrast between astronomical cost and emotional flatness. One small, enormously expensive step followed by a lot of standing around. The future, stripped of awe, rendered as background noise.
