Mermaid`s “Boundaries” has a shiny and upbeat sound. Also a dense a more dark section, with furious and noisy guitar. Those sounds work perfectly with the lyrics about the complex dynamics of a passionate, possibly toxic, relationship. They seem to be captivated by their infatuation, willing to go to extreme lengths and disregard personal boundaries for the object of their desire. There is a sense of longing, vulnerability, and the blurred lines between love and obsession.
