Movimento Gallery brings collectible design into Parisian apartment for Art Basel
Movimento Gallery and International Design presented House of Dreams, a collectible design and contemporary art exhibition in Paris, coinciding with Art Basel Paris 2026. Hosted from October 23 to 25 in a historic Haussmann-style apartment overlooking the Grand Palais, the exhibition brought together sixteen international artists and designers. Occupying 190 square meters at 7 Avenue Franklin Delano Roosevelt, the project revisited the tradition of Parisian salons, where artistic production, intellectual exchange, and social encounters once shared the same domestic environment.

The exhibition unfolded across the apartment’s living room, dining room, and bedrooms, with each space offering a different interpretation of the central theme. Original architectural details provided a historical setting for contemporary furniture, objects, and artworks, establishing connections between the building’s character and the experimental approaches of the participating creatives. The residential setting allowed visitors to encounter collectible design within a domestic context, where the relationship between an object and its surroundings became an essential part of the exhibition experience.

Curated jointly by Movimento Gallery and International Design, House of Dreams featured Artefatto, Elakform, Federica Elmo, Costantino Gucci, Neemesi, and Moreno Vannini, whose collections were developed exclusively for the Milan-based gallery. Other participants included Louis Barthélemy, Matteo Cibic, Jacob Egeberg, Laurids Gallée for Project Materia, Luca Gutierrez, Francesco Maria Messina, TABLEAU for Bloc Studios, Nicole Valenti, and Marco Guazzini and Willem Van Hoof for OUTSIDERS. Their contributions introduced different approaches to form, material experimentation, and artistic expression throughout the apartment.

The curatorial concept drew inspiration from the cultural significance of nineteenth-century Parisian salons, interpreting the home as a place for conversation and creative exchange. Each participant was invited to respond to the idea of a dream house through an individual room, developing a personal interpretation of memory, intimacy, or fantasy. As visitors moved between spaces, the exhibition’s atmosphere changed according to the objects, materials, and visual identities introduced by each designer. This progression established a sequence of distinct environments while maintaining a connection to the apartment’s original residential purpose.

For Salvatore Morales, creative director of Movimento Gallery, the exhibition was an opportunity to investigate the relationship between familiar domestic environments and unexpected artistic interventions. The juxtaposition of historic interiors and contemporary collectible design introduced new readings of the spaces, allowing individual works to establish relationships beyond their immediate function. International Design co-founder and curator Manfredi Moretti similarly approached the exhibition through the differences between the participating creatives, emphasizing how a shared idea could generate contrasting interpretations across the apartment.

Founded in Milan in 2020, Movimento Gallery focuses on collectible design through commissions, experimentation, and collaborations with contemporary designers. Its partnership with International Design, the curatorial platform founded by Manfredi Moretti and Jules Guérard, extended this approach into an exhibition connecting architecture, art, and contemporary culture. Presented alongside Art Basel Paris, House of Dreams proposed an alternative setting for experiencing collectible objects, inviting visitors to consider how design and art interact with the spaces of everyday life and how collecting can become part of a broader domestic experience.
