Nathaniel Paul: Pills

Nathaniel Paul´s “Pills” is a brooding and insightful song, where he sublimates the emotional fallout of modern overprescription. Using pulsing synths and lo-fi textures, he explores how we often treat discomfort as something to be erased rather than understood. When he sings “I feel no pain, take some pills and it goes away”, Paul reflects about the eerie monotony of medicated life, where each day blurs into the next, replacing real feelings with chemical quiet.

Even so, “Pills” doesn´t make an anti-medicine argument, but rather questions a culture that rushes to numb rather than listen. It balances intimate vulnerability with clear-eyed critique, resulting in a hypnotic and disorienting portrayal of current costumes.
