New Wolves – Sleep it back

New Wolves: Sleep it back

“Sleep It Back” feels like a song written in the aftermath of something unnamed but irreversible. New Wolves lean into repetition and fragmentation as a narrative device: phrases return slightly altered, like memories you can’t fully replay, only relive. The lyrics circle around the idea of outcome, not as a conclusion, but as a place you’re trapped inside, long after the event has passed.

There’s a quiet tension between surrender and resistance. One voice wants to “sleep it back,” to undo or anesthetize the weight of what happened, while the other insists on “fighting on,” repeating the phrase until it becomes less a rallying cry and more a form of endurance. The imagery is deliberately unstable, boats, floods, roads, ice cream, voices inside, objects and sensations drifting in and out like debris after a storm.
