NOVI Vase: Timeless design by Alain Gilles celebrating 150 Years of Topázio

In honor of Topázio’s 150th anniversary, designer Alain Gilles has created the NOVI Vase, a limited-edition masterpiece that stands as both a celebration and a symbol of legacy. Its dynamic silhouette evokes the image of fireworks bursting in the sky—one spark leading to the next—symbolizing continuity, joy, and shared moments.

Simultaneously, the form is reminiscent of stacked champagne glasses, traditionally used in grand celebrations, where cascading champagne flows from one to the next, reinforcing the notion of festivity and shared experience.

The design of NOVI Vase also draws inspiration from the concept of a torch being passed through generations, embodying the enduring flame of tradition, know-how, and passion that characterizes Topázio’s 150-year journey. Crafted as a duo, the vase is made up of two distinct yet complementary pieces, each inviting new ways of interacting with floral arrangements.

This decomposition of a bouquet allows for the reimagining of floral structure, giving florists and enthusiasts the opportunity to explore innovative arrangements using either the vases together or separately.

These dual elements can be nested, placed side-by-side, or showcased individually, creating limitless styling possibilities. This flexibility is meant to inspire creativity and spark new interpretations in floral display, while highlighting the vase’s sculptural quality.

Adding to the artistry, both vases feature three wide hammered stripes etched into their surfaces. These tactile, unpolished bands represent Topázio’s three golden jubilees and pay tribute to the generations of skilled artisans who have shaped the brand’s legacy.

More than just decorative, these stripes serve as visual markers that allow users to orient and play with the positioning of each vase. Whether aligned, mirrored, or hidden, these elements shift how the vase is perceived, affecting light, texture, and interaction. Approximately one-third of the external surface is marked by this graphic element, which emphasizes the handcrafted nature of the design.

Each piece is constructed with double-layered sides to enhance visual depth, reflection, and warmth. This layering not only amplifies the aesthetic richness of the NOVI Vase but also showcases the expert craftsmanship that defines Topázio’s heritage. Through this thoughtful design, the NOVI Vase becomes more than a vessel—it becomes a statement of tradition, evolution, and creative vision for the future.
