In the heart of Saudi Arabia, the ALTER EGO Project Group has designed OBLIVION, a 6-star boutique hotel that embodies the serene beauty of its desert surroundings. This project, currently in progress and set to be completed by 2025, spans an impressive 47,000 square meters and stands as a testament to the harmonious integration of architecture and nature.
The essence of OBLIVION’s design revolves around blending effortlessly with the natural environment. Inspired by the desert’s unique forms and hues, the architecture utilizes regionally sourced materials, ensuring that the structures complement the landscape. The hotel’s layout is meticulously planned to embrace the dramatic rock formations, providing guests with unparalleled views and privacy.
The resort comprises 40 villas, each featuring private outdoor lounge decks and integrated swimming pools, fostering an immersive connection with nature. Central public spaces, designed for convenience, offer easy access to all hotel facilities, including luxurious amenities such as a spa, pool area, and gourmet restaurants. These spaces honor local arts, cuisine, and customs, enhancing the cultural experience for guests.
Sustainability is at the core of OBLIVION’s design. The structures are strategically oriented to minimize heat gain while maximizing outdoor views, utilizing organic materials like local stone. Passive solar design optimizes light and temperature, and a solar energy system, rainwater collection, and greywater treatment significantly reduce the resort’s carbon footprint. Landscaping features local endemic plant species, further integrating the buildings with their surroundings.
OBLIVION offers an exclusive cinema experience where guests can enjoy movies under the starlit sky. The nature-inspired color palette and considerate landscaping create a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor spaces. Limited vehicular access ensures tranquility, while unobtrusive architectural and landscape lighting enhances the stargazing experience.
