The Screen mapping transforms Disseny Hub Barcelona façade durin OFFF Barcelona 2026
OFFF Barcelona festival 2026 announces the return of The Screen, a large-scale projection mapping event that will activate the façade of Disseny Hub Barcelona from April 16 to 18. Taking place at Plaça de Santiago Pey between 21:00 and 23:00 each evening, the program is open to the public with free entry, reinforcing the festival’s commitment to accessible digital culture in the city.
Now in its second edition, The Screen brings together a global selection of motion artists and studios, presenting animated works designed specifically for architectural projection. The façade of Disseny Hub Barcelona becomes a dynamic surface for visual narratives, where light, timing, and composition interact directly with the building’s structure. The event extends OFFF Barcelona’s focus on motion design and audiovisual practices beyond conventional exhibition formats.
The program is organized into three chapters. A curated selection by OFFF introduces works from established creatives in the field, while an open-call showcase developed in collaboration with Frameboy features 280 contributions from both emerging and recognized practitioners. This segment highlights a wide range of techniques and visual approaches currently shaping digital art and animation. The third chapter presents the Main Titles by PJ Richardson, establishing a visual framework that connects the entire program.
All works will be screened twice each evening, first from 21:00 to 22:00 and again from 22:00 to 23:00, allowing visitors multiple opportunities to engage with the program. The open-call showcase will vary each night, with different selections scheduled across the three days. This rotating structure introduces new content daily while maintaining a consistent viewing format.
Co-produced with Frameboy and powered by Barco, The Screen integrates advanced projection technology with a curated artistic direction. The initiative positions Disseny Hub Barcelona as an active participant in the event, transforming its façade into a platform for digital expression. By bringing motion design into a public urban setting, OFFF Barcelona continues to expand the reach of contemporary visual culture.
As part of the wider OFFF Barcelona 2026 program, The Screen offers a shared experience that connects local audiences with international creative practices. It reinforces the role of the festival as a meeting point for design, art, and technology, while contributing to Barcelona’s ongoing engagement with digital media in public space.
