OLOID Mouse
OLOID emerges as a bold response to the challenge of creating an ambidextrous ergonomic mouse, driven by a commitment to redefining conventional design paradigms. Developed by designers Jorge Paez and Josep Pedro, this innovative mouse is meticulously crafted to prioritize user comfort, irrespective of hand dominance.
The design journey of OLOID commenced with an extensive exploration of existing ergonomic mouse options, including thorough tear-downs and hands-on testing. Recognizing the importance of addressing users’ ergonomic needs, regardless of handedness, the team set out to innovate a solution that blends symmetry with optimal hand support for both left and right-handed individuals.
The result is a vertical ambidextrous mouse characterized by a floating interaction surface seamlessly connected to a technology-infused inner body. The ergonomic design of the interaction surface features an arched pill shape transitioning into an off-center ellipse, with a distinct flared-up section serving as a comfortable landing for the thumb. The incorporation of a wave texture enhances tactile feedback during thumb scrolling, extending to the front to subtly indicate the position of index finger scroll sensors.
One of OLOID’s standout features is its intuitive adaptability to users’ hand orientation. The mouse automatically discerns between left and right-handed users, activating corresponding electronics and illuminating an indicator LED on the top of the device. Moreover, OLOID boasts seamless connectivity with up to three devices via Bluetooth, ensuring versatility and convenience in usage scenarios. With OLOID, Jorge Paez and Josep Pedro have not only reimagined ergonomic mouse design but also set a new standard for user-centric innovation in the realm of computer peripherals.
