Or Kantor is a tattoo artist turned instrumental storyteller, sculpting atmosphere the way others ink skin: with precision, intention, and a belief in permanence. His self-defined subterranean music deepens, braiding together Mediterranean balladry, desert blues, spiritual jazz, psychedelia. With contributions like trumpeter Sefi Zisling cutting through haze like a mirage, the album sounds like memory scoring geography. Kantor himself says Snake Island began as “a tragic love story imagined on a remote island in the Cyclades… the landscapes were scenes waiting for music.” Eventually, the story eroded; only the sound remained. What we hear now is that residue: dreamlike, windworn, cinematic.
