Palm Eco Lodge
Elaheh.arch, led by principal architect Elaheh Lotfi, presents the Palm Eco Lodge, an ecotourism retreat nestled in the scenic landscapes of Bandar Abbas in southern Iran. This concept design, located on a 6,000 m² site with a built area of 2,000 m², reflects the principles of indigenous architecture while being in harmony with its natural surroundings. The project highlights the firm’s commitment to combining local craftsmanship with sustainable practices, creating an immersive experience for guests.
The architectural design pays homage to the rich heritage of southern Iranian architecture, incorporating locally sourced materials that resonate with the environment. The lodge’s minimalist structure is characterized by traditional stucco façades that seamlessly blend into the earthy tones of the landscape. Accented by warm wooden elements, the design enhances both aesthetic appeal and sustainability, reflecting an emphasis on harmony with the local ecosystem.
A sense of spatial fluidity defines the architectural layout, where indoor and outdoor spaces flow organically into one another. Large, strategically positioned windows allow natural light to flood the interiors, connecting guests with the surrounding gardens and native palm trees. This interplay of light and shadow emphasizes the beauty of the southern Iranian landscape.
Traditional architectural elements such as wind catchers and vaulted ceilings are integral to the design, providing passive cooling solutions while echoing the vernacular style of the region. The lodge also features shaded terraces and open-air spaces that invite guests to engage in outdoor living and enjoy the tranquil ambiance of the setting.
