Prada and Axiom Space

Prada and Axiom Space, a leader in the space sector and the creator of the first commercial orbital station, have announced an extraordinary partnership for the creation of NASA’s new spacesuits for the Artemis III lunar mission. This mission will mark the first crewed lunar landing since Apollo 17 in December 1972.

As part of the Artemis program, NASA and its collaborators will land the first woman and the first person of color on the surface of the Moon. The announcement took place during the International Astronautical Congress, organized by the International Astronautical Federation (IAF) and hosted in Milan for its 75th edition. The Axiom Extravehicular Mobility Unit (AxEMU) spacesuit is the result of a unique collaboration between global leaders in technology, innovation, and creativity.

Starting October 18, 2024, the public will have the opportunity to view the spacesuit in an installation at the iconic Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, as an extension of the IAC event. Prada, known for its expertise in materials, advanced manufacturing techniques, and innovative design, worked in close collaboration with Axiom Space to create a suit that would not only protect astronauts from the harsh conditions of space but also enable them to explore the lunar south pole for the first time.
