Roaring Fork Residence By Eerkes Architects
The Roaring Fork Residence, designed by Eerkes Architects, is situated on a 35-acre site perched along a ridgeline in the Roaring Fork Valley, Colorado, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding Rocky Mountain peaks. Principal architect Les Eerkes and the design team, including Ryan Mann, have meticulously crafted a home that responds harmoniously to its natural surroundings, while engaging both the intimate features of the landscape and the expansive vistas beyond.
This 3,375-square-foot residence is designed to be in close dialogue with the land. At the north end of the home’s axis, a serene sauna and spa area are carved into a natural stone outcropping, seamlessly blending with the rocky terrain. The house’s exterior spaces remain level with the natural grade of the site, while the primary bedroom wing and a private office become elevated as the ground falls away, offering a range of unique vantage points to experience the landscape.
Material choices for the residence are carefully selected to reflect and complement the natural environment, with colors inspired by the soil, sagebrush, and the bark of the surrounding oak trees. Collaborators on the project include Notion Workshop for visualizations and Keelty Construction. The Roaring Fork Residence remains a project in progress, with Jonathan Thwaites contributing to its completion. This residence stands as a thoughtful interpretation of residential architecture, seamlessly integrating with the unique geography of central Colorado.
