MAKHNO Studio Unveils Modern Visitor Centre on Dnipro Embankment.

In the quest for energy security and sustainable development, Alexander Makhno and his design team at MAKHNO Studio present the visionary project Vitryak. Nestled on the banks of the Dnipro River in Ukraine, this concept envisions a modern visitor centre advocating for renewable energy technologies, specifically wind power.

Vitryak symbolizes a paradigm shift towards energy independence, emphasizing the significance of wind energy in countering contemporary threats. Situated amidst a field adorned with windmills, the project reflects a commitment to promoting renewable energy solutions within rural communities. The visitor centre, designed by principal architect Alexander Makhno, stands as a testament to the transformative power of clean, zero-waste wind energy.

Envisioned as a two-storey building, the visitor centre includes a museum, conference hall, observation platform, recreation area, and a cafe-bar zone. The circular lake behind the main structure, coupled with an observation platform offering panoramic views of the windmills, adds a touch of serenity to the architectural design. The choice of white color seamlessly integrates the building into the landscape, creating a visual continuity with the surrounding windmills.

The museum, resembling a wing, pays homage to the iconic windmill construction. Quatropods, a unique 3D tile designed by MAKHNO Studio, adorn the building’s exterior, emphasizing its horizontal shape. The conference hall and cafe-bar area on the first floor feature an interior executed in light colors with smooth lines, connecting seamlessly with the natural landscape. MAKHNO Studio’s iconic 3D tiles, quatropods, embellish the walls, creating a visually stimulating environment.

More than just an architectural marvel, Vitryak is a fully functional, energy-independent structure. Operated entirely on wind energy generated from the surrounding field, the visitor centre offers a unique experience. Visitors can enjoy coffee, relax in the recreation area, and witness firsthand the potential of windmills as a valuable resource for producing green hydrogen.

Vitryak transcends its physical existence as a visitor centre; it is a symbol of hope for a sustainable future. In the face of the global energy crisis, this project serves as a beacon, drawing attention to wind power as a pivotal player in transforming the energy sector. By emphasizing the importance of alternative energy sources, Vitryak invites us to rethink our role in fostering energy independence and environmental preservation.
