In 2023, Wirobotics, a company founded by engineers from Samsung Electronics’ robotics team, collaborated with WIM to develop a cutting-edge mobility assist wearable device. Unlike existing products aimed at seniors with leg discomforts, WIM’s device targets younger consumers, offering enhanced mobility for walking or running in daily life.

Departing from the typically medical aesthetics, the design language of WIM is akin to a fashion accessory, resonating with younger users and integrating seamlessly into everyday settings. The ergonomic design of the device has been meticulously refined, ensuring comfort in any typical posture. Close collaboration with mechanical engineers resulted in a slim, compact product that does not compromise usability.

The main body is constructed from lightweight plastic in a distinctive color, with durable aluminum used for parts requiring extra strength. Areas in contact with the body feature soft fabrics and straps for added comfort. The user experience has been a primary focus in the design process. It has incorporated spring-loaded lock release buttons, magnets for automatic lock alignment, and Velcro-adjustable straps, making the device easy to wear and remove.

For enhanced portability and storage, the device can be folded into a compact size using hinges in its joints and a sliding rail mechanism in the leg area. This thoughtful design ensures that the WIM mobility assist device is both practical and user-friendly, catering to the active lifestyles of younger consumers.
