YUCHTET: Continuance

YUCHTET: Continuance

The Brooklyn based ensemble, led by composer and drummer Leo Yucht, works with the scale and texture of a small big band while keeping the music suspended in a more cinematic atmosphere. “Continuance” moves slowly but deliberately, allowing its harmonic landscape to unfold in long, patient gestures.

At the center of the arrangement sits the trumpet voice of Max Boiko. His lines glide through the ensemble rather than cutting across it, carrying the melody with a tone that feels both searching and restrained. The surrounding horns and rhythm section respond with layered swells and soft rhythmic shifts, creating the impression of a wide frame gradually filling with detail.

That sense of spaciousness reflects the broader aesthetic of YUCHTET. The group draws from the vocabulary of large ensemble jazz but filters it through a dreamy, almost filmic sensibility. Instead of explosive solos or dense orchestration, the music leans toward texture, patience, and slow emotional accumulation.
