Nate Yingling Trio: THE ENCHANTER

Nate Yingling Trio’s “THE ENCHANTER” gives a face to the fortune-teller at the center of Welcome to Lunaryth. The enchanter is a circus character who plays a game that reveals your true fate, turning a simple game into the defining object of his world. Around him, Yingling and graphic artist Scooped Doodles build a psychedelic mythology through music, characters, and artwork.

That idea gives the song a darker place within the album’s circus. The enchanter does not need to predict what might happen. His game shows what is already there, which makes the character less a magician inventing the future than someone holding up a mirror to it. The visual world developed alongside the music reinforces that connection, with the artwork and songs telling parts of the same story.

“THE ENCHANTER” therefore introduces one figure without needing to explain the whole mythology around him. There is a circus, there is a game, and somewhere inside it waits an answer about who you are going to become.
