Alex George: Where to Go

Alex George builds “Where to Go” around a question that begins after home has disappeared. The song draws from images of ordinary families leaving everything behind, without attaching that departure to one war or border. The human problem remains underneath the image: where does a person go when the place that once answered that question no longer exists?

Families leave, belongings and familiar surroundings fall away, and the question stays. Steve Knight’s featured vocal carries the song’s human center, while the production by P.A. Deepak, with additional credit to Vivek Agrawal, supports a subject that does not need a specific geography to become recognizable.

“Where to Go” does not offer a destination in response to its own question. Alex George leaves the title hanging over the people forced to move, carrying the absence of home with them as they search for somewhere else to stand.
