The Rabbitts: When I Met You…

The Rabbitts: When I Met You…

The Rabbitts’ “When I Met You…” looks back on a relationship that has lasted long enough to change the people inside it. Written by Lucy May and Odhran Linsey. It draws on their history together, from the beginning of their relationship more than a decade ago to their marriage in 2025. The memories carry the weight of time, but this is not just a look back at how love began. It considers what it takes to keep building a life with someone.

The song comes from a writing retreat in the Pyrenees, where the pair found the idea on their final day, just as they were preparing to leave. That detail gives the story a fitting setting: a moment of discovery arriving when time is almost up. Their shared history provides the subject, but the years between meeting and marriage matter too. Love changes as life asks more of the people who choose it.

“When I Met You…” also leads into Paradise, an album shaped by the same retreat and recorded with the full band. The title looks toward a beginning, yet the story behind it includes all the years that came after. There is no need to return to the first meeting as if nothing has changed. The people who remember it are different now, and they have kept choosing each other.
