Power Hold by Fadi Alagi reimagines portable charging through climbing
Power Hold is a magnetic power bank concept developed by designer Fadi Alagi, drawing inspiration from the irregular forms and textured surfaces of climbing holds. The project reimagines a familiar smartphone accessory as a tactile object, bringing elements of climbing culture into the design of everyday technology.
Its organic silhouette features rounded edges, sculpted finger recesses, and a textured surface inspired by the grips used on climbing walls. Presented in a range of vibrant colours, the design challenges the conventional appearance of portable chargers, replacing smooth geometric shapes with a more expressive and playful form.

Designed to attach magnetically to the back of a smartphone, Power Hold combines the proposed functionality of a portable charger with the physical characteristics of a climbing grip. A circular metallic element recalls the bolts used to secure climbing holds, while integrated LED indicators display the battery level. The concept also incorporates a charging port along its lower edge.
Beyond its technical features, the project reflects Fadi Alagi’s interest in creating objects with personality. Its distinctive form encourages physical interaction, while the reference to climbing serves as a reminder of outdoor activities and movement. The result is a proposal that connects personal technology with an experience usually associated with physical environments.

Currently presented as a design concept, Power Hold demonstrates how familiar sporting equipment can influence the appearance and interaction of electronic accessories. The product is expected to launch in the future, although an official release date has not been announced. Those interested in its availability can join the official waitlist to receive updates about the launch.
